Final Update 05/14/10
I personally though this course was a great course for educators specializing in a Masters in Reading. I think it was a little bit stressful for me due to working towards a Masters in Special Education, it required a lot of work to complete the assignments and excessive research. Although I learn a lot and was impressed on how the instructor incorporated technology to keep all student actively involved due to being in a on-line course. I think I did good in the class I just had some difficulties working the web cam along with posting PowerPoint on my blog site. I think I would have done excellent if I was able to complete the above mention tasks. Hopefully the professor will keep this class the way it is and continue to challenge students to do more in order to seek for knowledge about content literacy in all subject matters.

I would like to stress that technology cannot prevent teachers from obtaining success in their pursuit to teaching. Technology is only a vehicle that can support what the teacher wants to instruct in their classrooms. You can teach without the technical skills yet advancing to other methods do improve the conditions for students. Keep up the good work and some training will enable you to improve your technology skills.
ReplyDeleteTwo things that you stated that I strongly agree with are:Students need to be engaged fully by having personal interests in there readings
ReplyDeleteTeachers should try to incorporate different types of media to ensure to be compter literate and depending on the topic, up to date on info
I also had problems with the tecnology too, but in order to complete the tasks I had to get around it, besides in doing these assignments the use of technology is required. Excellant class, I would 't change the program either, I learned a lot about literacy instruction and tecnology application in the classroom.
ReplyDeleteI think that technology is a missing link in many classroom as well. The classroom can get rountine at times and students need something to peek their interest.
